A leading member of the Komala Party of Iranian Kurdistan has claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran recently established a missile launch pad in Sulaymaniyah province where the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) is dominant.
Farhad Shabani told BasNews that they have obtained information indicating that Iran’s new missile launch pad is set up on Sooren mountain where a large number of Iranian forces have also amassed.
He claimed that the new move is to target Iranian Kurdish opposition parties. “We have received threatenings that missiles will be targeting our positions,” Shabani pointed out.
“However, we have taken serious security measures to protect our positions.”
The official also pointed out that the new developments are not threatening only the Iranian Kurdish opposition groups, but also the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). He suggested rapid reaction to prevent any damage to the stability of the region at the hand to Tehran’s ambition to expand its hegemony.
