Gorran Official Blames PUK for Iranian Attack on Kurdish Oppositions.
ERBIL
— A senior member of the Change Movement (Gorran) says the Patriotic
Union of Kurdistan (PUK) assisted the Islamic Republic of Iran in
Saturday’s deadly attack against two main Iranian Kurdish opposition
parties in Koya (some 65 kilometres southeast Erbil).
Hemin
Shekhani, head of Gorran’s Erbil office and a member of the party’s
National Assembly, told BasNews that the PUK paid off its debts to Iran
by coordinating the attack against the Kurdistan Democratic Party of
Iran (PDKI) and Iranian Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP-Iran).
He said the PUK and Iran are now settled as the latter had previously helped the former in widespread election frauds.
“Certainly
the PUK has assisted Iran. No other country would be able to cross our
borders if it is not assisted within the Kurdistan Region,” he stated.
According
to the latest updates, at least 11 people were killed and 40 others
were wounded. Leading members from both the Kurdish opposition parties
are among the casualties.
The
missile attack was carried out on PDKI and KDP-Iran headquarters, bases
and refugee camps where the families of their Peshmerga forces are
living since decades ago.
The KRG
issued a statement earlier to condemn the “Iranian attack”, noting that
all the sides should respect Kurdistan’s territorial integrity and avoid
any action that could undermine its stability.
