In Pictures: Kurdish Cities Close Down Marketplaces to Protest Iran's Attack on Opposition Parties.
The Kurdish cities in Iran have staged a strike by closing down the marketplaces to protest the recent missile attack on the headquarters of two Iranian Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region's Koya district near the capital city.
The
strike has been staged since Wednesday morning in the Kurdish cities,
including Sanandaj, Marivan, Saqiz, Bana, Mahabad, Bokan, Shino, Pawa,
and Piranshah.
According
to Hangaw Organization for Human Rights, the Iranian government has
slowed down the internet connection, even cutting it in some areas to
harm any collaborations between the people from one city to another.
On
Saturday morning, the Islamic Republic targeted the headquarters of the
Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI) and Iranian Kurdistan
Democratic Party (KDP-Iran) and killed 16 people, while 40 others were
wounded. Tehran also hanged three Kurdish political activists, among
whom was Ramin Hussein Panahi, on the same day.
